Ceramics and sculpture has been a long time passion of mine. There are very few opportunities these days to design with our hands. This thirst for a handmade project to work on inspired me to design "Vessel Type" from paper to clay to video. The typeface is the physical manifestation of a pixel that lives in our physical world. All 78 vessels were sculpted and fired over the course of a year and then the alphabet was shot in my backyard within two weeks. What I liked most about this project is that the design lives on as a planter that can be gifted to friend and family and live on in our world with a different purpose. Something that I always strive for in my design (when I have the opportunity) is to design holistically, keeping in mind the afterlife of all the objects I bring into this world.
